A one-day intensive workshop with Flying Whale Strategies
$350 per organization*
Presented by Hillary Frances, Founder and Principal, Flying Whale Strategies
Flying Whale Strategies’ Intensives are cohort-based accelerators that engage leaders in a curated learning process. They are designed as a laboratory rather than a lecture – leaders learn through discovery. They offer clear solutions in record time.
The Honing your Performance Intensive is a 6‑hour learning experience which accelerates fundraising skills. This course focuses exclusively on the four critical skills that drive scalable revenue: high-stakes messaging, strategic discipline, proactive major gift management, and value-add donor engagement. Designed for ambitious leaders ready to redefine their field, this intensive provides the tools to move your organization from holding ground to setting the pace.
Honing a Case for Support: Participants will master the ability to move beyond vague mission and vision statements to create bold invitations to impact. This skill focuses on articulating a nuanced problem and a sophisticated solution that attracts big bet philanthropy.
Maintaining Strategic Focus: To avoid a scattershot approach, leaders will learn to apply the 90⁄10 rule, ensuring that time and resources are concentrated on 2 – 3 fully operationalized strategies rather than being spread thin by opportunistic distractions.
Identifying the Next Move (Major Gifts): Moving away from opportunistic major gift activity, this skill focuses on thoughtful moves management. Participants will learn to use a structured “touchpoint checklist” to engage donors who are hard to reach or tired of the same type of donor conversation.
Writing Value-Add Appeals (Annual Giving): Participants will pivot from formulaic appeal writing to a brand journalism approach. This skill focuses on creating content that adds genuine value to a donor’s inbox, demonstrating expertise and making the organization’s appeals “forward-worthy”.
Deliverables for each participating organization:
- 6 hours of transformative learning
- Strategic fundraising plan template
- Fundraising case for support template
- Access to the Flying Whale Organizational Maturity Matrix Self-Assessment which will locate your organization’s fundraising operations on a scale ranging from “Getting By” to “Redefining the Field.”
This program is designed for
- Leaders of small to mid-sized nonprofits who need a high value, quick return experience that delivers them new skills.
- Leaders who often feel lonely and exhausted on the difficult path towards sustainability and scale.
- Leaders who need to scale beyond the fundraising efforts of the organization’s Executive Director.
- Front line staff who execute the organization’s fundraising activities.
*Up to 3 individuals per organization are invited to attend. CFJH Professional Development Grants can be applied to registration. Please contact Grants Officer, Mari Allan Hanna, mahanna@cfjacksonhole.org for more information.
WHY FLYING WHALE STRATEGIES?
Flying Whale Strategies was founded on the belief that nonprofits can solve impossible problems in their sector. Jackson Hole Wyoming is home to some of the most ambitious people in the world as well as some of our country’s greatest challenges. Thus, Jackson’s nonprofit leaders have the potential to set the pace for how the world solves social, environmental, and economic problems.
Flying Whale Strategies’ founder, Hillary Frances, knows this landscape well. She has worked with over 40 Jackson Hole nonprofits since 2020. At the same time, she is a partner to leaders across the world who are developing radical solutions for complex problems. She brings lessons from her work in New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, DC, Minneapolis, Indonesia, and Kabul.
