Join strategic planning consultant Jeff Heilbrun and former nonprofit executive director Laura Soltau for a hands-on workshop that demonstrates how stakeholder insights can be transformed into actionable strategy. A strategic plan isn’t successful simply because it’s written. It’s successful when everyone understands the priorities and knows what to do next.
Using their real-world consultant/client case study, Jeff and Laura will guide participants in exploring practical approaches to the many aspects of nonprofit strategic planning and the progression from input → priorities → alignment → action. Topics will include stakeholder engagement, board and staff roles, qualitative survey analysis, and deciding when to leverage internal capacity versus outside expertise. This highly interactive session will incorporate hands-on exercises, peer engagement, and facilitated discussion.
Participants will explore how to:
- Gather meaningful input from key stakeholders
- Identify areas of agreement — and differences in perspective
- Turn that input into clear strategic priorities
- Build organizational alignment around those priorities
- Translate strategy into actionable annual plans
Tuition and Target Audience: $75 per organization (Up to 3 participants per organization: 1 executive director and up to 2 board members). We strongly encourage executive directors and board members to attend together, as the workshop is designed to foster shared learning and alignment around strategic planning. Joint attendance is not required, however, and we welcome registrations from any interested nonprofit leaders. Questions about the workshop format or registration can be directed to mahanna@cfjacksonhole.org.
