Volunteer will work from home to help an Afghan family that is fleeing from grave danger from the Taliban. Vista 360° met this family through our cultural exchange program in Central Asia. This is a wonderful family that includes three doctors and three medical students. The father was the Director of the National Traditional Sports and Buzkashi Federation of Afghanistan (think horses!). The mother has been a surgeon and medical professor for 35 years and a vocal advocate for women’s education. They are now safe in Iran, but can stay there for only thirty days. We need help to: • research entry requirements of countries around the world to find a place they can go while they wait for 6-8 months for U.S. processing of their entry applications • online applications for visas • press releases and social media to help spread the word to mobilize support for this family • raise money for their living expenses 6-8 months, plane tickets, visas. The volunteer will be guided and supported by Vista 360° staff to feel confident about what needs to be done and will have the joyful opportunity to directly help an Afghan family. No specialized skills needed, just a willing heart, but experience with PR, marketing and fundraising will be appreciated. This is a great way to learn about the situation of refugees around the world.
