Looking for the love and companionship of a dog without the long term commitment?! Become a foster for the Animal Adoption Center!!

The Animal Adoption Center relies on the generosity of foster parents to provide loving and temporary homes for the dogs in our program. Every adoptable dog in the AAC program lives in a foster home until they are adopted! They don’t spend lonely nights in a shelter kennel and instead are loved like a family member until they find a forever home. Foster homes provide a stable environment which helps prepare the dogs for adoption by giving them the opportunity to learn valuable household manners. Additionally, foster parents help us understand each animal’s particular needs and personality in order to find the best adopter for them. The more fosters that the AAC has available, the more dogs we are able to pull out of overcrowded shelters and find homes for! Fosters can make themselves available for just a few nights at a time or decide to foster long term, every little bit helps.

The AAC provides all the supplies the dog will need for their time in a foster home. The AAC has a non-negotiable policy that every foster dog is required to be on a leash at all times unless supervised in a securely fenced yard or inside a house. Fosters need to have good and open communication with the AAC staff and be able to bring the dog to the AAC for vet care, training or introductions to potential adopters at the AAC’s request.
