Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding Volunteer
Join our dedicated team of volunteers to assist in a variety of accessible and individualized Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies, each specifically designed to empower, inspire, and enrich. Through the powerful bond between horse and rider, we assist our participants in thriving in their daily lives.
We operate from May to October and offer lessons to our participants Monday-Friday. We offer two roles for volunteers, horse leader and sidewalker. A horse leader leads the horse and helps reinforce cues that the rider is giving the horse (steering, go, stop, etc.). A sidewalker walks alongside the participant and helps the rider maintain stability in the saddle. We provide training for all volunteers each year so that you're familiar with all lesson policies and procedures. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes, with a 15 minute briefing with the instructor before the lesson, so a one hour commitment.
We are an inclusive and compassionate organization. Empowerment is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that everyone deserves to reach their full potential and this belief guides our commitment to adaptable and accessible programs. Help support participants in their ongoing pursuit of confidence, strength, and independence.
