PAWS Disaster Animal Response Training - Be Prepared for Pets in an Emergency!
🔥Wildfire season is coming. Is this community ready to protect our pets? 🔥
When disaster strikes, and evacuations are ordered, many
families face an impossible choice: leave their pets behind or risk their own
safety.
That’s why, after Hurricane Katrina, FEMA required all
communities to have a plan to protect pets during disasters. Without
one, our community risks losing access to critical FEMA funding.
Here in Teton County, WY, and ID, the PAWS Disaster
Animal Response Team (DART) is a vital part of our Emergency
Management System, ensuring no one must choose between their own safety and the
life of their pets.
But this program only works if we have trained volunteers
ready to step in.
On May 16th, American Humane is coming to
Jackson to train local volunteers on how to set up and operate a temporary
emergency animal shelter during a disaster. This training is FREE for
participants!
We need 40+ community members to step up
and be part of this life-saving effort.
