Womentum’s annual March Onward Celebration of Women’s History Month
This year’s March Onward celebrates the release of Womentoring alumna Lindsay Linton Buk’s new book, Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming. Part memoir, part storytelling, part photography book, and part creative process, Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming is a powerful portrait of over 25 extraordinary contemporary women showcased through in-depth narratives, over 100 medium-format film photographs, 20 historical vignettes of women throughout Wyoming’s history, including the state’s suffrage story, and Lindsay’s creative process to produce the project. The book is the final piece of her larger body of work, which also includes a podcast and a traveling photography exhibit.
The event includes a book signing and dynamic panel discussion featuring Buk and a selection of the women she profiles, including:
— Jasmine Pickner Bell, two-time world hoop dance champion and educator
— Jessie Allen Gottwald, director and owner of Allen’s Diamond 4 Ranch, yoga instructor, hunting guide, National Outdoor Leadership School instructor and former Miss Wyoming
— Marnie Peterson, scientist, inventor, entrepreneur
— Lynette St. Clair, Eastern Shoshone linguist, cultural preservationist and education consultant on the Wind River Reservation
Guests are invited to arrive at 5:30 pm for a pre-panel reception, a cash bar, the opportunity to meet the panelists, and a hoop dance demonstration by hoop dancer and educator Jasmine Pickner Bell. The panel begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. A book signing will follow the discussion.
Volunteer roles will be focused on the event execution including checking-in attendees and helping manage the book-signing. Volunteer shifts are arranged so that they may watch the panel as a guest with a complimentary ticket.
