The Newcomer's Guide
to Jackson Hole Nonprofits

Welcome to Jackson! You may have heard that philanthropy is a defining principle of our community’s character. Dating back to the homesteading days, the long-standing tradition of  “taking care of your neighbor” remains central today. This guide is intended to give you a snapshot of our community’s vibrant nonprofit sector and the countless services they provide.

“But of all the lessons that I learned, one on top of another….the lesson of kindness and human decency, unmotivated by anything but good nature and goodwill, is the one I most value.” – Wallace Stegner

What's the best way to get involved in the nonprofit community?

First, we recommend identifying what areas of interest you are most passionate about. From there, you can begin to narrow down which organizations might be most compelling to you. Volunteering is a great place to start. If an organization doesn’t have any active volunteer listings available on VolunteerJH, you can reach out to the organization directly to see if they might have any specific opportunities or ways that you can engage.
