Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation
Reducing Roadkill in Teton County
$8,000
On average, 300 large animals are killed by cars each year on Teton County roads. These accidents are not only costly in terms of the lives of animals involved, but they can also result in injuries to drivers and passengers and expensive vehicle repairs. With Community Foundation grant funds, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation will produce a detailed roadkill flyer, as part of a larger awareness campaign, that will include photos, safe driving tips, and relevant statistics. In collaboration with Grand Teton National Park, they will distribute the flyer widely, particularly targeting visitors at the airport, and at the Jackson Hole and Greater Yellowstone Visitor Centers.

Teton Raptor Center (TRC)
TALONS Project
$1,800
Teton Raptor Center education expands public awareness, appreciation, and participation in raptor conservation. While the focus on raptors is important, their work directly impacts a greater audience by teaching participation in the care and stewardship of our community. TRC will develop and implement TALONS (Teaching And Learning in the Natural Sciences), a three year education plan that will provide a map of sustainable mission-based education priorities and a framework for seeking future funding. Community Foundation funds will be used to hire a consultant, experienced in natural science curriculum and research, who will provide a comprehensive needs analysis.
