Calvin Mathieu, In Memoriam
Calvin Mathieu, 1916-2016
At every age Cal was a contagious personality who maintained a dry wit and an undiminished curiosity, and he continued to make new friends in all walks of life. His work influenced the Manhattan Project, the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA. His love of Wyoming, animals and the outdoors inspired him to donate a large track of land and was the first such easement in the state of Wyoming whereby limited development was allowed. Among the many things Cal loved most were: Lake Creek Ranch, blood relations (both in-laws and outlaws), listening to Vin Scully broadcast LA Dodger games, saddling a horse in the crisp morning air, breeding quarter horses and Appaloosas, Marty Robbins ballads and taking his beloved wife, Margaret, wherever she wanted to go.
Cal and Margaret have been Old Bill’s Fun Run Co-Challengers since 2000. Gifts made in his memory will support the Old Bill’s Match Fund.
