Our mother, Peggy Rose Schneider, had a passion for Jackson Hole that extended beyond the natural beauty of the Snake River and the Tetons. She cared deeply about the well-being of the people, the arts and preserving Jackson’s natural beauty for future generations.
During her lifetime she gave her time, energy and heart as an active volunteer, board member and donor with numerous organizations that addressed these causes. To ensure she could continue to support these philanthropic objectives beyond her lifetime, she established the Peggy Rose Schneider Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. The endowment makes annual grants to the Teton Science School and the National Museum of Wildlife Art, two organizations that were especially close to her heart.
The fund also enables us to make grants that help preserve Jackson Hole’s environment. Since we live outside of Jackson, we rely on the knowledge of the Community Foundation’s Competitive Grants Committee to evaluate grant proposals. When the Community Foundation is only able to partially fund a proposal, partnering allows us to complete the funding, ensuring that the organization has the resources necessary for a successful project.
By partnering with the Community Foundation we also capitalize on their thorough evaluation, due-diligence, measurement of project results and oversight. Therefore, we are confident we are being good stewards of our mother’s wishes.
The Peggy Rose Schneider Endowment Fund is not only a perpetual gift to the Jackson Hole community, it is also a meaningful legacy for the future generations of our family.
