Still Giving it Their all --
Thousands of Donors Bring Hope to Thousands More
JACKSON, WY October 22, 2007 — On Monday night, October 22, our community gave the power of literacy to a new immigrant, renewed self-esteem to an adolescent girl, the pride of home ownership to a working family, safety to an abused woman, inspiration to artists young and old, the camaraderie and discipline of sports to community youth, the unexpected joy of a holiday to a family in crisis, belief in a new day for a recovering addict, financial security and confidence for a single working mother, and the wonder of protected natural beauty and wildlife for future generations.
“Each year Old Bill’s Fun Run strengthens the fabric of our community by making it easy for caring community members to give and for local non-profits to receive the financial support needed to provide critical programs and services that improve our quality of life and give us hope for a better future,” said Katharine Conover, President of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. At the Old Bill’s Fun Run 11 Awards Party, over two hundred non-profits envisioned how to continue, improve and expand the important work they do in our community as they received checks collectively totaling over $7.7 million.
The record-breaking $7,747,327 distributed this year thru Old Bill’s Fun Run represents contributions from 2,887 donors. Designated gifts of $5,813,503 were matched by a pool of $1,933,824 from Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill, Co-Challengers and Friends of the Match. The resulting match percentage totaled 43%, enhancing the impact of every Old Bill’s gift. Although the celebration of the community’s incredible generosity was brief, its impact will be felt throughout the year and for generations to come as the participating non-profits put all of the contributions they received to hard work.
